I’m very excited to share with you an opportunity for students who have struggled with Lyme disease.
Attorney Nathaniel B. Preston is offering a scholarship of $1,000 to students with Lyme disease.
This is the first-ever scholarship for a student with Lyme disease.
This scholarship has expired! Thank you!
As the mom of 4 Lyme kids, I know first-hand how discouraging it is for a teen and young adult to try to get through High School while at the same time being very sick with Lyme disease.
These students work very hard trying to get through their coursework so that they can graduate and be as normal as possible. They balance their energy level, their pain, medications and doctor’s appointments with their school load. Most of them are not well enough to have extracurricular activities or interests. They struggle daily with intense pain, brain fog, and fatigue. Many have added learning difficulties or mental illness from the infections.
Many of these kids suffer from depression and discouragement is a daily battle. They don’t have a hope for their future and often don’t even think about going to college because they can barely get through a normal day.
Those who do recover may not be able to attend college because of the financial burden Lyme has placed on their family.
Because I walked through this journey with my own daughters and getting two of them through High School by homeschooling them, I am very excited to share this opportunity with you.
To my knowledge, this is the only scholarship available specifically to students with Lyme disease.
It would be really great if other organizations could offer these opportunities as well. I’m pretty sure it would give these suffering students a bit of hope and would possibly help them to think about their future.

Thank you so much, Mr. Preston, for your generosity and concern for those who suffer in silence, whose doctors and friends don’t believe they’re really sick and who are often not recognized.
