How to Test for Mold In Your Home

The Hidden Mold Problem

Home with Mold

Most of my readers have difficulties in moldy environments. Many Lyme sufferers are unaware of hidden mold and mycotoxins in their homes, churches, and work environments. Some people, especially those who don’t have Lyme, don’t believe mold can impact their health but can’t figure out why they’re so sick.

Home with Mold

If you have a chronic illness or unexplained symptoms you should look into mold testing but you may not know how to test for mold.

A few weeks ago I was approached by a well-named lab. I’m often asked if I would be willing to collaborate with other companies and websites. They’re not usually a good fit for me or you and so I decline.

I’m very careful who I choose to work with because I don’t want to waste your time.

I’m delighted to tell you that I’m now an affiliate with RealTime Labs and can offer you a 20% off coupon code to use for your purchase.

Why Use RealTime Labs?

RealTime Labs is accredited in the U.S. by CAP and CLIA to perform clinical mycotoxin testing. It is also one of the only labs in the U.S. that tests for Macrocyclic Trichothecenes.

RealTime Lab’s mycotoxin test panel is the most comprehensive available, testing for the presence of 15 of the most common and toxic mycotoxins produced by indoor mold contaminants.

What does it mean to be College of American Pathologists (CAP) accredited?

For more than 50 years, the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program has been the champion of laboratory excellence, exceeding the requirements of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) as well as those of other national and state regulatory agencies.

High-complexity disciplines (such as those performed in RealTime Laboratories) benefit from a specialized inspection by a peer who has expertise in the field. Only the CAP includes a specialty inspector for high-complexity Disciplines.

It provides a guideline for continuous compliance

Mold and Mycotoxin Tests

EMMA (Environmental Mold and Mycotoxin Assessment)

EMMA was created to not only test to see if there is mold in a building or home but also for mycotoxins that some mold produce.

The mold itself is not usually the problem when it comes to someone’s health, its the mycotoxins. Mycotoxins are toxins that can cause disease and death in humans and animals.

Homes that have had water damage (leaky sink, flood, hurricane) can be more susceptible for having mold since mold likes to grow in wet humid conditions.

At times, people start feeling sick (see realtimelab.com for symptoms) and can’t find the reason for their sickness.

They can go to many doctors and still not find the cause. Their sickness may be caused by the environment they are living or working in.

Most home/building mold tests obviously just test for mold, but you can get rid of the mold but still have mycotoxins. The EMMA gives peace of mind to customers that their home is a healthy place to live. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC164220/

Hi Lindsay! I have not used their products yet but I have heard their products referenced enough from well known sources that I feel confident recommending them. This is on my list to do for my basement to make sure we got all the mold when we removed our hvac system.
