When Everything Feels Like Too Much: Finding Calm While Healing from Lyme

June 19, 2025 by Tricia Leave a Comment

Finding Peace in a Chaotic World Through Faith, Simplicity, and Gentle Healing

I’ve lived through enough seasons of hardship—chronic illness, parenting through trials, and watching the world grow heavier year by year—to know how easy it is to feel overwhelmed. Maybe you’re feeling that right now. The weight of trauma, the endless headlines, the suffering in your own body or family—it all adds up. And for those of us who are walking a healing path, especially after something like Lyme disease, the added emotional and spiritual stress can feel like too much.

I want to speak to that today—with compassion, with honesty, and with hope.

The Body Remembers, But So Does the Spirit

When you’ve been through trauma or long-term illness, your nervous system becomes hyper-sensitive. Little things feel big. Big things feel unmanageable. And when the world outside is loud and uncertain, your body may react as if it’s under constant threat—even when you’re safe.

But friend, let me remind you: You are not alone, and you are not powerless.

The Lord sees the chaos around you, and He’s not shaken. In Isaiah 26:3, we’re promised, “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You.” That kind of peace doesn’t come from our circumstances—it comes from anchoring our hearts and minds in Christ.

That’s not always easy, but it is possible. And there are gentle, tangible ways to quiet your nervous system and return to that peace again and again.

Simple Ways to Regulate the Nervous System (and the Soul)

Over the years, I’ve learned some powerful tools to stay grounded—and I’ve seen them work not only for myself but for many in the Lyme and chronic illness community. Here are a few I return to often:

  • Begin your day with Scripture and silence. Before the news, before social media—ground yourself in truth. Ask the Lord, What do You want to show me today?
  • Breathe deeply, with intention. Just a few minutes of slow breathing calms the vagus nerve and tells your body: It’s safe now.
  • Limit your input. You don’t have to carry every burden you hear about. Jesus already did that on the cross. Take in only what you can prayerfully hold.
  • Step outside and look up. God’s creation is healing. Sunshine, the birds singing, a breeze on your face—they speak louder than headlines.
  • Use the natural tools God gave us. I often use homeopathy, herbs like ashwagandha or tulsi, and nourishing foods to support the body’s response to stress. They are gifts—gentle ways to care for the body while the heart heals.

You Were Not Made to Carry It All

If you’re feeling worn down, you’re not weak. You’re human. But Jesus invites us in Matthew 11:28, “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

He doesn’t ask us to hustle for healing or strive for peace. He asks us to come, to rest, and to trust.

And when we do, even in the midst of grief, illness, or uncertainty, something shifts. We begin to live from a place of stability—not because life is perfect, but because we are held by the One who is.

If You’re in the Thick of It Right Now…

Know that I am praying for you. That this community is a safe space to walk through the hard things without fear or shame. You don’t have to figure it all out today. Just take one faithful step toward peace, toward healing, and toward Jesus.

And if you need help along the way—nutritional guidance, homeopathic support, or simply someone who understands—I’m here for that too. I’ve recently opened up my schedule for one-on-one coaching sessions. Whether you’re navigating the lingering effects of Lyme, exploring gentle homeopathic support, looking to nourish your body with food that promotes healing, or simply feeling overwhelmed and in need of encouragement, I’m here to walk alongside you. Together, we’ll take a personalized, grace-filled approach to support your healing—body, mind, and spirit.

With grace and gentleness,
Tricia
